Donor-Advised Funds
DAF’s — Give Smarter. Do More Good.
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account set up with a public charity (often through a community foundation or financial institution). You make a tax-deductible gift to your DAF, let the fund grow tax-free, and then recommend grants to qualified nonprofits—like Adirondack Health Foundation—on your timeline.

👉 It’s simple, flexible, and strategic for both one-time and recurring philanthropy.
Why Have a DAF?
✅
Timing & Simplicity – Immediate charitable deduction when you contribute, flexibility to recommend grants later.
✅
One Place for Giving – Manage all your charitable gifts and multi-year commitments in a single account.
✅
Invest for Impact – Tax-free growth can increase what you ultimately grant.
✅
Family & Legacy – Engage children or heirs in recommending grants and passing down values.
✅
Privacy
– Give publicly or anonymously.
Your Impact with a DAF in the Adirondacks
When you recommend a grant to Adirondack Medical Center Foundation (dba Adirondack Health Foundation), you help sustain rural care across a vast region where distance, workforce shortages, and limited specialty services create real barriers to health.
Your support helps us:
- Expand primary and behavioral health access.
- Recruit and retain skilled clinicians and specialists for our rural communities.
- Invest in critical equipment and patient support services.
- Keep high-quality care close to home for residents, neighbors, and visitors.
Why Rural Health Needs You
- Rural residents are 21% more likely to die of heart disease and 48% more likely to die of chronic lower respiratory disease compared with urban areas.
- Some rural New York counties have no OB-GYNs, and far fewer primary care physicians per capita.
- 17% of New Yorkers live in rural areas and face significant barriers to mental health care.
Legacy Giving with Your DAF
Did you know? You can name Adirondack Medical Center Foundation (dba Adirondack Health Foundation) as a successor advisor on your DAF. This ensures that upon your passing, the balance of your fund continues to support compassionate, high-quality rural health care in the Adirondacks—creating a legacy for generations.
