Planned Giving & The Redfield Legacy Society
Create a lifesaving legacy for the Adirondacks
Estate gifts, also known as planned or deferred gifts, are a powerful way to ensure your legacy endures while supporting the health and well-being of the Adirondack region for generations to come. Whether through your will, retirement plan, insurance policy, or charitable trust, your planned gift helps build Better Health, Better Lives.
Some planned gifts can even provide income to you or your loved ones during your lifetime while offering substantial tax benefits. There is no minimum to make a legacy gift—all contributions, large or small, help secure the future of care.

Types of Planned Gifts
Bequests
Bequests in your will or trust are a simple and meaningful way to support Adirondack Health. A bequest may reduce your taxable estate and can be designated for general use or a specific purpose.
Sample bequest language:
"All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate for federal tax purposes I give to the Adirondack Medical Center Foundation d.b.a. the Adirondack Health Foundation, P.O. Box 120 Saranac Lake, NY 12983, Tax ID Number: 16-1528554 for its general purposes."
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Giving stocks or bonds can eliminate capital gains tax and provide an income tax deduction. Please call the Foundation office for wire and stock transfer information at 518-897-2348.
Gifts of Real Estate
Gifting appreciated property can yield a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and avoid capital gains tax.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Guarantees a fixed lifetime income and tax savings while supporting Adirondack Health.
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
Provides income for life, tax advantages, and supports our mission after your lifetime.
Life Estate
You can donate your home and retain lifetime use. This arrangement provides a significant current income tax deduction.

The Redfield Legacy Society
Named in honor of H. Alexander (Alec) Redfield, a devoted Lake Placid summer resident whose 1980 bequest to Placid Memorial Hospital continues to impact healthcare in the region, the Redfield Legacy Society honors individuals who include Adirondack Health Foundation in their estate plans.
Members receive special recognition, including:
- A subscription to our Between the Peaks annual newsletter
- Invitations to legacy donor events
- A lasting place in Adirondack Health’s history of philanthropy
We are deeply grateful to those, like Alec Redfield, who choose to leave a legacy of care.

"We have always loved this hospital and never felt the need to seek care anywhere else."
Chandler Ralph and David Aldrich

"We all have a part to play in the future. Some people let the future happen to them—not me. I want to be an active participant, especially in ensuring strong healthcare for our rural communities."
Judy Meagher

"Adirondack Health is essential to the region—both for the highest quality healthcare and as a major part of the regional economy."
Marie and George McBride
